CLUB WORKDAY – GREAT TURNOUT & PROGRESSBayou City Flyers WORKDAY Saturday, Feb. 29th at Dick Scobee Memorial Airfields in George Bush Park had a great turnout with a lot of progress made. The clubhouse skirting project completed 50% of work needed with the rest to follow soon. Additionally, the pilot flyer station area railing was reinforced, the grass area parallel to the runway had the wild hog damage repaired along with removing encroaching grass along the runway, trees were trimmed and the overall area cleaned up. COME ONE, COME ALL! EVERYTHING R/C!Bayou City Flyers hosted it first of two RC SWAP MEETS at Dick Scobee Memorial Airfields in George Bush Park this year on SATURDAY MARCH 14. We had a good turnout given all the issues with Covid19! The next one will be SATURDAY JULY 18, 8am – Till Finish. OPEN ADMISSION & FREE TO SELL. Bring your own table / pop-up tent / or sell from your tailgate. Be sure to plan on attending and pass the word around, share on your FaceBook and invite your RC buddies! See Ya There!

4th Annual BCF Warbird Sortie Event: 2020 Cat C, Sanction 10047

Bayou City Flyers has decided to cancel and reschedule its planned 4th Annual Warbird Event at Dick Scobee Memorial Airfields in George Bush Park, that was set for JULY 24-25, 2020 due to the current COVID-19 pandemic. We are looking at the fall for a potential date TBD. We have had a great turnout of pilots, volunteers, vendors and members of the public attend over the last few years as the event continues to grow. The next club meeting is the first Saturday of the Month in 2020, beginning at 10.00am and will be held at the field clubhouse. Thanks to everyone for the appreciative comments on the new website. We continue to make improvements with our web consultant – Deborah Bulling of DebsWebsDesign.com. We’ve made the site more user friendly (especially in the Membership area), more interactive, and focused on attracting new members and providing them with information on ‘Getting Started’ and how to “Come Fly With US”!  Based on comments I’ve added more videos of BCF events and flying together, along with a aerial drone video of the field. Hangar 9 10cc Ultra Stick Rebuild Project

July 2019: Maximillian (Max) Burton our Club Treasurer, crashed his Hanger 9 Ultra Stick Wednesday, July 17th. As you can see not pretty. However; since I was flying at the field to maiden one of my rebuilt mash-ups and witnessed the ‘thump’, and looked at the remaining pieces, I offered to rebuild it for Max as a project and post the process and pictures to the website. GREAT 3rd Annual BCF Warbird Event: Hosted July 19 & 20th, 2019

Bayou City Flyers hosted its 3rd Annual Warbird Event at Dick Scobee Memorial Airfields in George Bush Park. We had a great turnout of pilots, volunteers, vendors and members of the public. The weather was good, typically hot, a little breezy but right down the runway most the time. Although we lost a few planes (RIP) and some dramatically, the flying was outstanding including the Gaggle!, Jets, TurboProp, Formation Flights, Scale and Aerobatics. National Model Aviation Day – August 17

Join the Academy of Model Aeronautics Foundation in celebrating model aviation for the seventh annual National Model Aviation Day, August 17, 2019. National Model Aviation Day was created to encourage clubs to celebrate the hobby and share it with the public. Our chartered clubs have also been asked to conduct a fundraiser to provide assistance to a worthy cause. For this year all clubs have been asked to support the AMA Foundation.
