Join the Academy of Model Aeronautics in celebrating model aviation for the sixth annual National Model Aviation Day, August 11, 2018. National Model Aviation Day was created to encourage clubs to celebrate the hobby and share it with the public. Bayou City Flyers will be hosting discovery flight for youth entering 5th to 12th grade. These 10-minute flights will be done at The Dick Scobey Memorial RC Field in George Bush Park, 8:00 A.M. to 11:45 AM. A four page annotated picture document has been posted to the Member Documents section of this website which illustrates how high water rose at and in the clubhouse during Harvey. Members will need to login to this section to access the information which is located below the previously posted Tax Day flood information. Let’s hope we do not have to periodically add information to this part of the website. Thanks to those club members that contributed money and time to restore the clubhouse.

The Dick Scobee Memorial Airfields powered RC Flight area will be closed to public use on Friday and Saturday July 20th and 21st. The Bayou City Flyers RC Club is sponsoring its 2nd annual Warbird event over this two day period so RC flying during this period will be restricted to the event. The public is welcomed to attend this event at no cost.

There will be no Radio Controlled flying at Dick Scobee Memorial Airfield on Thursday May 31st from 10:15am to 3:15pm CDT. Scobee field is on an approximate 277 deg radial 22nm from the Hobby VOR. “An FAA NOTAM/TFR has been issued for Houston, TX and the surrounding areas for Thursday, May 31st from 10:15 am CDT to 3:15 pm CDT. April 9, 2018: Jim Keil has advised Post – Harvey restoration work is progressing on the Bayou City Flyers Club House. As of April 9, 2018, additional wood framing has been installed around the door and windows, T-111 wood paneling has been installed on the interior walls, primed and painted. Window trim has been installed, two drip pans have been installed below the leaking roof vents and plumbed to drain outside with ceiling insulation and ceiling tiles installed.
