The December 2018 Bayou City Flyers club meeting was held at Rudy’s “Country Store” and Bar-B-Q located at 21799 Katy Freeway, Katy, TX on December 1, 2018. Members voted for 2019 leadership and each member received a raffle ticket. Club President Art Alvarez acknowledged contributions of club members during the past year. Attending membership enjoyed a delicious Bar-B-Q meal which was followed by the raffle drawing. An FAA NOTAM/TFR has been issued for Houston, TX and the surrounding areas for Monday, October 22 from 4:15 pm CDT to 8:30 pm CDT. The TFR is issued for security purposes to cover VIP movement in this area. Outdoor radio control model aircraft operations are prohibited within a 30 nm radius (applicable to Scobee Field) for the specific times listed below. Join the Academy of Model Aeronautics in celebrating model aviation for the sixth annual National Model Aviation Day, August 11, 2018. National Model Aviation Day was created to encourage clubs to celebrate the hobby and share it with the public. Bayou City Flyers will be hosting discovery flight for youth entering 5th to 12th grade. These 10-minute flights will be done at The Dick Scobey Memorial RC Field in George Bush Park, 8:00 A.M. to 11:45 AM. A four page annotated picture document has been posted to the Member Documents section of this website which illustrates how high water rose at and in the clubhouse during Harvey. Members will need to login to this section to access the information which is located below the previously posted Tax Day flood information. Let’s hope we do not have to periodically add information to this part of the website. Thanks to those club members that contributed money and time to restore the clubhouse.

The Dick Scobee Memorial Airfields powered RC Flight area will be closed to public use on Friday and Saturday July 20th and 21st. The Bayou City Flyers RC Club is sponsoring its 2nd annual Warbird event over this two day period so RC flying during this period will be restricted to the event. The public is welcomed to attend this event at no cost.

There will be no Radio Controlled flying at Dick Scobee Memorial Airfield on Thursday May 31st from 10:15am to 3:15pm CDT.
