Field Maintenance / New Paint / Runway Hazard Repaired

The County crew recently completed runway field maintenance which included re-painting the runway striping. Additionally, they were asked to clean up the overgrown edge of the far side of the runway. However; an unintended hazard has been created because that work created a ‘trench’ along the edge that is now a HAZARD for landing if you go off the runway. On Sat. September 12th the club held a work day and repaired the trench with the help of a rented excavator move dirt and a lot on manpower. Awesome job guys! (M. Wise)

Pattern Poles Repainted

Managed to complete project I volunteered to do. Repainted the Precision Aerobatics (Pattern) poles today that mark the center of two aerobatic ‘boxes’ used by precision aerobatics pilots to help place their maneuvers correctly. They also help judges access the pilot’s maneuvers when being judged. Hope to see a contest return to BCF. (M. Wise)

GREAT 3rd Annual BCF Warbird Event: Hosted July 19 & 20th, 2019

Bayou City Flyers hosted its 3rd Annual Warbird Event at Dick Scobee Memorial Airfields in George Bush Park. We had a great turnout of pilots, volunteers, vendors and members of the public. The weather was good, typically hot, a little breezy but right down the runway most the time. Although we lost a few planes (RIP) and some dramatically, the flying was outstanding including the Gaggle!, Jets, TurboProp, Formation Flights, Scale and Aerobatics. Several vendors showed up to support the event and we thank them for their support along with sponsor Randy Hobbies and look forward to their continued support. […]
